Why it is free

A volunteer project against car fraud

About →

  1. 01

    No ads, no paid tier

We do not sell reports, data or your attention. The site exists to help people avoid buying a car with a rolled-back odometer, hidden damage or a bad past.

  2. 02

    Only open and public data

Official open data from vehicle registers, public auctions, and copies of public pages kept by the Internet Archive. No leaked databases, no logins, no tricks.

  3. 03

    No personal data

A report describes the car, not people. We do not show owners' names, phone numbers or addresses — at most whether a car belonged to a company or a private person.

  4. 04

    Honest about gaps

If we found nothing, the report says so plainly and explains what that does and does not mean. A report never replaces an inspection.

What we check

What the report shows

01

Mileage history

Odometer readings from inspections, auctions and listings on a timeline — with a warning when the mileage drops or barely grows for years.

02

Damage and auctions

US salvage auction lots (Copart, IAAI) with the damage zone and title, and public government auctions in Europe.

03

Registrations and owners

Registration events in the Czech, Danish and Spanish registers: first registration, imports, exports, number of owners.

04

Inspections

Technical inspection results and recorded faults where the register publishes them.

05

Archived listings

Old classified ads for this VIN found in public web archives: price, mileage and description at that time.

06

Recalls and specs

Manufacturer recalls, crash tests and fuel economy for US-market cars.

  2. 2

    We search public sources

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no paid version and no sign-up. The project is run by volunteers; to keep it working for everyone we limit the number of checks per day from one connection.

Which countries do you cover?

Best coverage today: Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain and cars that passed through US auctions. We add more countries as their open data becomes available.

Where does the data come from?

Only from open and public sources: official open data of vehicle registers, public auctions, manufacturer recall databases and public web pages archived by the Internet Archive. The full list is on the Data sources page.

Do you show the owners?

No. We do not show names, addresses or phone numbers. At most a report says whether the car belonged to a company or a private person, and how many owners it had.

If nothing is found, is the car clean?

Not necessarily. Many accidents are repaired without an insurance claim and never reach any database. Use the report to know what to ask and what to inspect.

Do you use cookies?

No. vinzvit.com sets no cookies and has no third-party trackers or analytics. Details are on the Cookies page.

Who can see my report?

Only people who have the private link. Reports are not listed publicly and are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Something about my car is wrong

Write to support@vinzvit.com with the VIN and what is wrong. We check every message and correct or remove the record if it is inaccurate.
